The Night the Music Died

Arts & Theater The Night the Music Died Re-Creates Buddy Holly's Last Concert

Travel back in time to experience one of the most famous rock shows in history: the high-energy performance by Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson at Iowa's Surf Ballroom just hours before their fateful plane crash of February 3, 1959. Texas Family Musicals faithfully re-creates that historic concert with back-up singers and musicians live on stage at the Moody Gardens Convention Center in Galveston. You'll hear hits from Lubbock native Holly, considered one of the pioneers of rock 'n' roll, with songs like "That'll Be the Day" "Peggy Sue," "Maybe Baby" and more, along with those from Valens ("La Bamba") and Richardson, who gained fame for his recording of "Chantilly Lace."
