Fall Travel Tips

For Galveston visitors, fall is a nice season to avoid the summer crowds and enjoy the tranquility of a quiet time of year. The weather is cooler and there's still plenty to keep you busy.

What's New

  • New Beaches - Galveston completed a $19.5 million beach nourishment project from 12th to 61st Streets earlier this year. Visitors can expect beaches up to 150 feet wide through this project.
  • New Trolleys - Four rubber-wheel trolleys began operating in May and a downtown and Seawall route. Trolleys run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The cost is $1 for adults. Exact change is required to ride, trolley drivers cannot make change.
  • Best in Texas - Galveston Island was named one of The South's "Best Islands" by Southern Living Magazine.
