Summer Travel Tips

For most Galveston visitors, summer is synonymous with spending time at the beach. Directly in front of Hotel Galvez, you'll see beaches now widened to about 150 feet adding more space for beach goers to enjoy.

What's New

  • New Beaches - Galveston completed a $19.5 million beach nourishment project from 12th to 61st Streets. The project was administered by the Galveston Park Board with funding support from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Texas General Land Office and the City of Galveston.
  • New Bathrooms - Galveston opened its Seawall Loos. These new bathrooms offer a toilet and outdoor shower and are open from 9a.m. to 7 p.m. Nearby loos are located at 19th Street and 29th Street.
  • Best in Texas - Galveston Island was named one of The South's "Best Islands" by Southern Living Magazine.
  • New Trolleys - Four rubber-wheel trolleys now offer a Seawall Route and Downtown Route. The cost is $1 per person (exact change required). There is a trolley depot across the street from Hotel Galvez at Beach Central.
