Waterfront Rides & Games at Pleasure Pier, Galveston
Formerly known as "The Coney Island of the South," the most popular island in Texas has drawn families to the gulf for more than 100 years. Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier was built for military recreation during World War II, when it was the largest of its kind in the country. Today, it's one of a handful of seaside amusement parks with so many rides over the water. Standouts include the Iron Shark Rollercoaster, Pirate's Plunge, Texas Star Flyer, and countless carnival midway games.
